One of my favorite films on the birth of Christ is The Nativity Story (2006). It shows that Christ's birth was a gift to the world and especially the poor and oppressed. The film is summarized at the end with an excerpt from Mary's prayer in Luke 1:

The Almighty has done great things
and holy is His name
He has shown strength with his arm
He has scattered the proud
He has filled the hungry with good things
and the rich He has sent away empty
He has brought down rulers from their thrones
and has exulted those who are humble |
The film always leaves me with a renewed sense of God's grace and love for those on the margins. It challenges me to consider whether I am following His example of extending special love and kindness to the "least of these" (Matthew 25:31-46). The featured resources below can help us to extend special kindness to immigrants, individuals that are often marginalized in our day--a fitting way to celebrate the birth of our Lord.
- Chad Brennan
But you are a tower of refuge to the poor, O LORD, a tower of refuge to the needy in distress. You are a refuge from the storm and a shelter from the heat. For the oppressive acts of ruthless people are like a storm beating against a wall, or like the relentless heat of the desert. But you silence the roar of foreign nations. As the shade of a cloud cools relentless heat, so the boastful songs of ruthless people are stilled. - Isaiah 25:4-5 (NLT)
